The Burtonesque Dolls

it's time to recreate a scene from
The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride
or Beetlejuice. Use any images, from any company.

My immediate impulse was to make a NBC creation,
but I felt that I really should try another movie for a
change so I went with The Corpse Bride.

Damien from Simply Betty Stamps is my Victor and
Ghoulfriend from Tiddly Inks is the Bride.
The moon was made by using a Spellbinder's Nestie Circle.
I made a mask of Damien and the Moon and used Distress
Inks in Stormy Sky, Weathered Wood and Dusty Concord
for the night sky. The Forever stamp is a $1 Michaels stamp.
It's one of my favorite sentiment stamps.

Looking forward to seeing your creation!

The Lighter Side of Burton...

So today we have another release of Simply Betty Stamps
Merkids, and today it's Suzi!
The Burtonesque Dolls also have a fun challenge for
you, find a scene, poster, anything Burton that shows
a more lighter, softer side of his crazy norm.
Show us your brighter, happier Burton!
Three lucky entries will win the following:

From the Merkids:
Frosty and Summer Digis
Cornelius and Suzi Digis
Broom-hilda and Tiki Digis

So here's Suzi in wonderland!
I recreated the garden scene, with talking flowers,
funky mushrooms and a twisty tree.
(Tree and Mushrooms are from Tiddly Inks,
Flower face is from The Octopode Factory)

Here is my inspiration.

The quote reads "Why, sometimes I've believed
as many as six impossible things before breakfast".
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

MEEE -OW!

It's day 5 of the SBS Potter Previews
and today we have
MCGONAGALL!
I couldn't resist using another fun Zombie Teens Sentiment,
this time it's MEE-OW!

I also used more of that Cloud Nine Design Paper
this time it's Witches Brew Boil and Bubble.
This paper was from Michaels, but last time I saw it,
it was in the clearance isle. I only bought a few sheets
and wish I had bought more.
This is a great image for all the cat lover's out there.
I know a few people who will love it!
Including me!
See you tomorrow for our finale!

Make a Wish!

It's day 2 of Simply Betty Stamps Potter previews
and today we have Ginny for you.

I think this Ginny image is another one
that would go perfectly with some
fun sentiments. I kept it pretty simple
with make a wish. Come back tomorrow
for a very FUN preview!

New Release

Summer time means New Movies and with
the HP movie coming up soon,
had to release a line of HP images!
And we Burtonesque Dolls get to be part of that
release! So here is day one with the QUEEN
of the HP universe.
HERMOINE

Isn't she adorable! I can imagine her with all
kinds of fun sentiments.
I have to be honest and tell you that I have only seen
the first Potter film and did not
even finish the first book. I really wanted to like the
story but it just did not grab my attention. :(

Anyway I am going to give it another go and
watch the movies. Come back tomorrow
for day 2 preview.

I See Doubles!

Time for another fun Challenge at The Burtonesque Dolls
Today we challenge you to show us your double!
Create any project, but make it double Burton and double fun!
Just like the Tweedles!

I had to use some fun Stampotique images
as they were just screaming to
be used in Wonderland!

As my Tweedles I used Smile
and as my Chesire I used Kitty.
By Daniel Torrente of course!
And a very appropriate sentiment.

Can't wait to see your creations!

Playing along with the Dolls

When I saw are challenge at The Burtonesque Dolls
this week: Put Me In a Burton Movie,
I immediately thought about this
really fun image by Kenny K.
Wanda Wicked just screamed Beetlejuice to me!
It must be the stripes. LOL
We all know how much Tim Burton loves those stripes.
I true Burton fan knows about the stripes. ;)
(kind of an inside TBD joke)

Anyway I just wanted to play along for the
fun of it. So here's my card using
a slightly altered deconstructing jen
Sketch #7. Love her sketches!

Here's a closer look!
Have a great weekend!

Tim Burton at LACMA

On Tuesday June 14th I finally got to go to
the TIM BURTON
exhibit at LACMA( Los Angeles County Museum of Art).
I have been waiting for almost two years since this
exhibit opened in New York at the
MOMA (MUSEUM OF MODERN ART).
This is an AMAZING collection of Tim's Art
from childhood thru today.

I was really impressed by the amount of Art work they had on display.
My husband took me and he is not as big as a TB fan as I am.
He likes his older stuff.  And he really spoiled me and bought me
The Art of Tim Burton Book, Tim Burton Neon Pencils Set and
a very expensive Lunch at the museum.
SO THANK YOU BABY!

Here are a few pictures:
 The entrance to the exhibit.

Me with a Burton blow up.

If you are a fan and anywhere near California you
must see this. You have till October 31, 2011.
Have a great weekend!

Burton-weenie's Release Day!

Finally today is the day you can all jump on over to Simply Betty Stamps
and grab your favorite Burton-Weenies!

Of course before you go you must see the last newbie... she is my Favorite!

Welcome Pipper!  She is the cutest little Miss Attitude around the Burton block!

I wanted to use a fun cupcake sentiment but I could not
find any and I almost used this line from the Simpson's
"Don't spit on my cupcake and call it frosting!"
maybe next time.
Be sure to come back soon as I am going to
share about my trip to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)
TIM BURTON exhibit!!!!

Meet Harley!

Meet Harley she was born to be wild!
I went with a fun neon green and a cool leopard print.
The sentiment is from a really fun set by Stamp Camp called
That's what she said.

Be sure to check out what the rest of TBD did!
See you back tomorrow from my favorite image and release day!

We've gone stark Raven Mad!

Not really... just wild about a new Burton-Weenie here!

Won't you help us welcome Raven!

Well since her name is Raven I just had to use
mostly black for her, but I threw in some pink for fun!
I just love her attitude and this sentiment is just too funny.
Again I think this one is from Stamp Happy.
See you back tomorrow!

Put me in a Burton Film!

Today's sneek peak will be combined with The Burtonesque Dolls
bi-weekly challenge and we have a fun one for you!
Meet Ellenore... she is one cah-YUTIE! I love that doll of hers!
Ellanore is dying to be put into a Burton film...
who wouldn't want to be a part of that world right?
So as you take a peek of the DT's awesome
Ellanore creations you are challenged to:
Put Me in a Burton Film!  Which means take your image,
any image and put that image in any Burton film... think Alice,
Mrs. Lovette, Lidia, PeeWee Herman, Jack Skellington...
the sky's the limit!  Just...

PUT ME IN A BURTON MOVIE!

How much fun does that sound? to Burton-fy any image!
I am going to have to play along with you guys on this one!
Oh and I have a great idea!!!!
Here is my Ellanore, she is my second favorite Burton-weenie,
you will have to wait to see my Favorite.

I totally lifted her hair from my fellow Doll Danielle,
hers is slightly different but I just loved the look.
Thanks Danielle!
I have been using all these fun sentiments on my Burton-weenies cards,
but could not find the right one for Ellanore.
But it seems to me that this card should be something
about Love, because she is kinda holding that doll tight.
Maybe a little too tight.
See you all back tomorrow!

The Burton-Weenies have arrived!

It's sneak peek day at The Burtonesque Dolls!
We are introducing The Burton-Weenies
by Simply Betty Stamps of course!

Today's peek is Jack Jack.
This line is really fun and quirky
and they just beg for some sarcastic sentiments.
I used one of my favorite sentiments, I wish I could remember
who it's by. Stamp Happy I think.

Anyway check out my Jack Jack and come
back tomorrow for another peek.

Monsters have taken over...

Monsters have taken over the Chocolate Factroy!
Today we Burtonesque Dolls challenge you to take
your inspiration from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,
but Moster-ize it! Maybe a new chocolate can be made?
Or use colors inspired by the movie
and apply it to a Gruesome image making it fun, funky and all Burton!

This week we have a sponsor

That's right Strange Skin! Now talk about fun and Burton like images!
They have some awesome off beat digis
you will not want to miss out on! Check them all out here!
Strange Skin will be giving away 2 digis from their online store
to one lucky winner, and the winner gets to pick two!

I got to use the totally creepy Mr. Hyde by Strange Skin.
I used him as Charlie's Dark Side,
or maybe just his Dark Chocolate Side!

The fun chocolate sentiment is from Sweet n Sassy
and the chocolate goo and splatters were made with
MS drippy goo and splatter punches.
Can't wait to see your Monster Creation!

The Captain Has Arrived!

Whoot whoot!!!! Finally it's here!
Captain Jack himself has made an appearance here
in Burton world and at the Simply Betty Stamps store!

I had a blast making this card, and again wanted to keep the card
simple to showcase Jack.
It was a real pleasure to help preview the
line of Funky Pirates for Simply Betty Stamps.
Thanks Betty!

Pirate Preview Day 5!

 It's Forbidden Treasure!
Forbidden or not, Maxine is sure enjoying the heck out of it isn't she?
Just look at her wild hair... is she not the cah-Yutest!?

Maxine was another awesome image to color.
I just had to make her a cartoon red head.
I left the card pretty plain to showcase Maxine,
but I couldn't resist adding the famous
"Diamonds are a girls best friend line".

Well I know Betty will be happily in her seat for the
midnight showing of Pirates 4 tonight, but
I will be happily in bed! I will be seeing the movie tomorrow at 1pm
at the El Capitan in Hollywood, the BEST
place to see a Disney Movie.

I will see you back Tomorrow
for the Finale!

Meet Ginger
She is even more Sassy than Lizzy don't ya think?
Look at her, just standing there with that "I dare you" look on her face...
think she's protecting her Booty? Ha!

I am just loving these fun Pirates images.
Ginger was a blast to color and I just love her long lashes!
We just have a couple more days of previews
so see you back tomorrow
for a real gem of a sneak peak!

Sassy Pirate Lizzy

The Burtonesque Dolls  SBS Pirates Sneak Peak Day two
Hey you Pirate fans... how did you like that sneak peek of Bonnie?
Not bad eh?  You are going to love the next one...

Meet Lizzy, always ready for a fight, and never backs down!
She is one sassy wench no?
I love pirates, of course not the real ones,
I think we often forget that not all Pirates are like Jack Sparrow right?
Most of the time I am sure they were a bunch of hell-ians!
Not like cute Lizzy here!
I think she will make an awesome invite to a girls Pirate PARRRTY!
You can get the great Pirates back ground paper from the
Very Talented Doll Tracey. The heartbreaker sentiment is from Bombshell Stamps.
Come back tomorrow for sneak peak  day 3!

Burtonesque Pirates!

Now I know that Tim Burton had nothing to do with Pirates,
but his wing man Johnny is in the upcoming Pirates 4 movie so Betty
from Simply Betty Stamps figured that was Burton-esque
enough to have a Pirate Stamping Release here!
SO... that is what today's
The Burtonesque Dolls post is all about...
Welcome to our Pirates Sneak Peeks!
We will be having five days of previews,
the sixth being a preview/release for these fun Pirate images!
So let's begin with:
Bonnie!
She is keeping a eye out for treasure...
or maybe her long lost love,
whatever she's searching for she sure is stylin' isn't she?
These cutie will be available in Clear Stamp form on May 20th!

Bonnie was sooo much fun to color, I just love her outfit!

I had a lot of fun making the treasure map and distressing it up.
And I couldn't resist the flowers and skulls.
Come back tomorrow if you dare
for another sneak peak!

Zombies Burton Style

It's time for another Burtonesque Dolls Challenge
and this time we are doing
ZOMBIES.
What would a Burtonesque Zombie look like to you?
I went a bit on the gory side, but don't let
that scare you off. Of course a Burtonesque Zombie
would be on the good side and only go after
Evil Alien types. See below.

I used one of my Favorite New Zombie Sentiments
from Simply Betty Stamps Bad Head Day?
And of course a few stamps from Stampotique,
Twinkie and Heads from the Daniel Torrente Line.
The background paper is from We R Memory Keepers (Micheals)
And reads Night on the Town. Which I thought was
very fitting for a Zombie! I added the Blood splats and I think
they are from Recollections (Michaels).
Hope you all play along with us!
